A Cupcake for Breakfast
Plumbers are really starting to like our house on Valentine's Day. Four years ago our basement flooded. This year, an overflowing bathroom and "rain" in the living room. So with a plumber on the way, soaked carpet, a husband with a full day of client appointments and a toddler wondering why all his toys were displaced to another room and he was stuck in the pack 'n play, I did what any former nutrition major would do - I gave Brayden a cupcake for breakfast. He had been so good delivering food to a couple friends that I saved back a Valentine cupcake for him. We started earlier in the week trying to get a good Valentine's Day picture with one of Brayden's cute jean outfits, the cupcakes, the balloon he loved, etc., but he is too fast for the camera these days! So here's a belated Happy Valentine's Day picture of Brayden enjoying his breakfast...

Too Much Snow
Fast forward a week later to 12 inches of snow, 11 of those inches coming in a four-hour time period! Brayden loved watching it snow. After his nap, he and Tim spent 10 minutes dressing in multiple layers for some sledding. Brayden lasted 30 seconds at the most outside. He couldn't walk in the deep piles of snow and he didn't like that at all. When Tim asked him if he wanted to go inside, he shook his head "yes" very forcefully - too much snow for Brayden! He liked the snow much better this weekend from the safety of one if his favorite toys right now - his "car".

The Farm Show
Brayden loves farm animals. He knows the sounds for horse, sheep and cow. He is working on pig and duck and says "ga ga" for any animal he doesn't know yet. He now points at his animals and says the correct sounds without us asking. He is also developing a love of tractors. His John Deere tractors and books have been very popular recently so Brayden and Tim went to the Farm Show in Kansas City this weekend to see some real tractors up close. Unlike the Farm Show in Salina that Tim went to growing up, here climbing on the implements was highly encouraged.
More Snow
That brings us to today with another six inches of very wet snow! A lot of melting occurred over the weekend, but as Tim can attest to after lots of shoveling, we have about 15 inches of snow piled up in our front yard. We are very thankful today for power, four-wheel drive, a freezer full of food and lots of toys to entertain Brayden.
