Brayden's 1st Race

Check out this athlete in the making!  Saturday was Brayden's 1st race!  He ran the kid's 50-yard-dash as part of the Festival Fitness 5 Race and Smoky Hill River Festival in Salina.  There was quite the crowd of spectators and about 20 boys in Brayden's age group.  Brayden and Tim practiced a few times at home and watched YouTube videos to prepare.  Now Brayden is constantly saying, "Ready, Set, Go," and if you mention let's race, he takes your hand and makes you line up!

Brayden was very excited about his race and did great!  We are very proud of him, mostly because he was the only boy in the 2-year-old category to actually run the race by himself.  Everyone else ran holding a parent's hand.  When I asked Brayden if he wanted me to run with him, he explicitly told me "NO" - he's a little independent at times just like his mom and dad!  Brayden finished 2nd in his age group with a time of 20.33 seconds.  Now we have his first race T-Shirt, ribbon, bib and video coverage and his name was even in the sports section of the Salina Journal.

Here's "raw" video of Brayden racing...look for #22 on the near side...he's the one without the parent:
