Two big firsts for our little guy this week!

Tuesday night was Brayden's first Royals baseball game. With most visits to large venues, the first time we go, Brayden rarely smiles but he always tells you that he wants to go back and always remembers something from it the next day. The evening started with dinner at Gates BBQ on Brooklyn to make it a true Royals outing. Once at Kauffman, we walked around the stadium, watched a couple innings, listened to Brayden repeat "ball" several times and of course rode the carousel in the kid's area. Guest services printed Brayden a personalized certificate to commemorate his first visit to Kauffman Stadium. When asked what he liked best, Brayden responded with an affirmative "Neigh!" Really no surprise there. This after our trip to the driver's license office last week at the Great Mall in Olathe which does not have a carousel. Brayden thought we were at Oak Park Mall where we ride the horses. He was the maddest I've seen him in a long time and kept yelling "neigh, neigh, neigh" at the lady processing my license. She was very nice and kindly told Brayden she'd put that in the suggestion box.

Thursday brought Brayden's first race as a "participant". The three of us ran the 10K in the Lenexa Freedom Run. Tim pushed Brayden in the stroller and consented, after some grumbling, to go at my pace so we could enjoy the holiday morning together and cross the finish line as a family. Tim is now lobbying for an asterisk next to his race time based on this decision! Brayden loved running in the stroller and would stick his legs way up in the air to feel the breeze. We spent the 4th of July with our friends Sarah, Shea and Henry. The boys had a great time playing and were asleep well before any fireworks show.
